Description

Five Calls for Proposals are still open for Cluster 2; the deadline for submission for these proposals to Horizon Europe is January 22, 2025. These calls focus on developing digital tools and methods for use on the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage.

University of Manitoba teams planning to submit to this intake would best benefit from contacting Major Projects Office (MPO) at the first opportunity during planning.

A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for digitization and analysis of dynamic processes, objects and complex combined data
Program Code: HORIZON- CL2-2024-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01-01
Program Type: Innovation Action
Research Areas: Develop and implement a set of innovative tools and methods on the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) for digitization and analysis of dynamic heritage objects, processes, and practices. Applications of the tools should include monitoring the evolving status of cultural heritage objects and interacting with, cross-mixing, and re-mixing different data types. The work produced may be implemented as new specific tools, and/or as extensions to the functional libraries included in the core ECCCH platform.
Total Funding Available: $17.5M CAD for 2 grants.

A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for documenting, interlinking and organizing data
Program Code: HORIZON-CL2-2024-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01-02
Program Type: Innovation Action
Research Areas: Develop and implement a set of innovative tools and methods on the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) for documenting, interlinking and organizing data. Applications include creating, enriching, and refining annotated bibliographies and documenting the results of fieldwork such as archaeological or paleontological excavations or other collection processes.Total Funding Available: $11.7M CAD for 2 grants.

A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for advanced data enrichment
Program Code: HORIZON-C L2-2024-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01-03
Program Type: Innovation Action
Research Areas: Develop and implement a set of innovative tools and methods on the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) for advanced data enrichment. Applications should include metadata enrichment, embedding scientific and professional value as well as IP and other associated rights throughout the digital content production chain, and enabling collaboration and business models based on the multi-actor value chain. Projects funded under this topic may exploit and contribute to the European Open Science Cloud cross-domain interoperability framework and build on work by previous large-scale projects like PARTHENOS and SSHOC, as well as on data enrichment tools and activities in the context of the Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage. Tools and methods should be developed in collaboration with target users.
Total Funding Available: $17.5M CAD for 2 grants.

A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for high-value interactions with visitors and heritage objects
Program Code: HORIZON-CL2-2024-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01-04
Program Type: Innovation Action
Research Areas: Develop and implement a set of innovative tools and methods on the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) for high-quality interactions with visitors and cultural heritage objects. Applications should include creating, sharing, and re-using interactive content and analyzing, designing, and testing interactions with visitors. Tools and methods developed should include an easy-to-use authoring system. Resources should be developed to facilitate the creation of content and a cooperative approach that enables the reuse of components. The tools should support creation of multimedia content on top of basic components and offer the capability to adapt the presentation to more sophisticated contexts, such as non-immersive systems, virtual reality settings, or virtual worlds/metaverse environments. Tools should allow design and evaluation of exposition space; projects should develop tools and methods for providing simulated and real data mapping over an exposition.
Total Funding Available: $11.7M CAD for 2 grants.

A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for the study, conservation and restoration of heritage objects
Program Code: HORIZON-CL2-2024-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01-05
Program Type: Innovation Action
Research Areas: Developments on the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH). Support the study, conservation, and restoration of cultural heritage objects. Develop tools and methods that build on the digital twins of cultural heritage objects stored in the ECCCH to allow cultural heritage researchers to structure, encode, store and analyze knowledge needed for the study of a cultural heritage object. The tools would enable visualization and measurement, support analysis and documentation, and build on highly accurate digital representations of the object stored in the ECCCH. Develop tools and methods to collect, manage, and use data for conservation and restoration purposes. The tools to be developed should be implemented using the low-level libraries previously established by Horizon Europe funded projects.
Total Funding Available: $11.7M CAD for 2 grants.
