Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program (CREATE)

This program awards grants of up to $1.65M over 6 years for the development of innovative training programs designed to enhance collaboration and facilitate the transition of trainees to productive employees in the Canadian workforce. At least 80% of the CREATE grant must be used for trainees’ stipends. 

For the current competition, NSERC will fund at least three CREATE initiatives in quantum science and technology through the Government of Canada's Budget 2021 launch of a National Quantum Strategy (NQS).

The LOI stage is mandatory for all applications to the CREATE program. See quick link for instructions.

Please note that this LOI requires a letter of support from VPRIO. Researchers who intend to submit a CREATE LOI must discuss their plans with their Associate Dean (Research) well in advance of the ORS internal deadline.

*New for 2025 Competition*

• The Letter of Intent quota for all eligible institutions is now limited to three (3);
• LOI stage will be non-competitive; 
  • Full applications are due at NSERC 23 September 2024;
