Description

The objective of the Exploration stream is to support high-riskhigh-reward and interdisciplinary research. It seeks to inspire projects that bring disciplines together beyond traditional disciplinary or common interdisciplinary approaches by research teams with the capacity to explore something new that might fail, but that has the potential for significant impact.

Potential applicants should note that proposals will be assessed on the following criteria: Interdisciplinarity; Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; High-Risk; High-Reward; and Feasibility, with Interdisciplinarity and EDI being assessed on a pass/fail basis. Proposals which could otherwise be submitted to a traditional Tri-Agency program are unlikely to succeed; successful projects will go beyond traditional collaborative approaches and demonstrate innovation and “out of the box” thinking.

This program funds grants of up to $250,000 over two years (including $50,000 in indirect costs) to support interdisciplinary research led by teams of at least two individuals.
