Description

This is a new internal teams grant that will fund bold, forward-thinking research through interdisciplinary inquiry. The program is designed to support interdisciplinary collaborations (with representation from at least three faculties at UM) with the expectation that funded teams will leverage this investment to attract additional external funding throughout their Ignite project and beyond.

The Ignite Program offers substantial, multi-year strategic investment to support groundbreaking, high-risk, high-reward research. The intention is not simply to allocate additional funds to ongoing UM initiatives but rather to foster new partnerships by bringing together researchers from various disciplines, as well as external partners in response to complex societal problems.

UM will invest $350,000 a year for three years to each successful Ignite project and we expect to fund up to a maximum of three projects.
