The GIA-I aims to provide dedicated funding for Indigenous-led heart and brain health research that emphasizes Indigenous self determination, Indigenous data sovereignty, community governance, relational accountability, and Indigenous knowledge systems.\n\nUp to $400,000.00 CAD for up to four (4) years ($100K for 1-yr project / $200K for 2-yr project / $300K for 3-yr project/ $400K for 4-yr project)\n\nHeart & Stroke implemented new Research Security requirements in 2025 for their research grant competitions and has adopted the use of both the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships (NSGRP) and the Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC) Policy to address Research Security and safeguarding research concerns.
