Salary awards provide an added incentive for researchers to continue or begin their program of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular research within Canada.\n\nThe stipends, amounting to a maximum of $240,000 ($80,000 per year for up to three (3) years), will support successful NI Applicants ("Recipients") in conducting their research programs and engaging with mentors and trainees at their respective institutions ("Host Institutions").\n\nHeart & Stroke implemented new Research Security requirements in 2025 for their research grant competitions and has adopted the use of both the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships (NSGRP) and the Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC) Policy to address Research Security and safeguarding research concerns.
