Genomics Applications Partnership Program 2026
Genome Canada
As a core delivery instrument of the Canadian Genomics Strategy, Genome Canada’s Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) funds research and development projects that support public-private innovation.
- Total project size: $900K – $6M over 2 years
- Genome Canada contribution: Up to 1/3 of project costs ($300K – $2M)
- Matching funds: Remaining 2/3 (minimum 1/3 from the industry partner)
GAPP projects must:
- develop and apply a genomics-derived or genomics-enabling solution (i.e., tool, product or process) to an opportunity or challenge clearly defined by the Receptor (partner organization-public, private, not-for-profit sectors);
- focus on late-stage R&D that will position the innovation for near term implementation/commercialization
- be co-led by an Academic and a Receptor organization in partnership, with active and necessary roles for both; and,
- have the potential to generate significant social and/or economic benefits for Canadian stakeholders.
All Genome Prairie/Canada funding calls are subject to the Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC) and the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships (NSGRP). Please reach out to UManitoba Research Security to discuss what is needed for successful applications.
- Invitations are expected to be issued approximately 17 days after LOI submission.
- Full Applications selected by Genome Prairie will have a Project Pitch to Genome Canada in mid-September 2026.
