Program Type: Research and Innovation Action 

Research Areas: Projects should improve managed aquifer recharge (MAR) techniques at farm, basin, and catchment level, covering most EU agricultural contexts with considerations for environmental and economic impacts. They should develop a user-friendly monitoring, reporting and verification system (MRV) to follow the impact on ground water quality and quantity, as well as associated water ecosystems and dependent terrestrial ecosystems. Projects should evaluate the impact and sustainability of managed aquifer recharge techniques and calculate the cost-benefits of MAR techniques and demonstrate the feasibility of these business models at the local level in at least 2 case studies. Collaboration is encouraged with relevant Horizon Europe, Mission Soil, and Mission Oceans and Water projects.
