Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development – Phase 2 (SEED-2)

Global Affairs Canada is offering a funding opportunity for Canadian institutions to host undergraduate and postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) researchers from 26 eligible countries. This program aims to foster institutional partnerships, enhance student mobility, and strengthen international research collaborations.
Successful candidates should ideally arrive in Canada between January 6 and January 29, 2027. For college or undergraduate students, the duration is one semester (4 months) or two semesters (8 months). For graduate students (Master’s and PhD), the duration is between one semester (four months) and six months. The scholarship value ranges from $10,200 (4 months) to $15,900 (8 months). Research involving clinical training or clinically-oriented research involving direct patient-care is ineligible. A FAAF is only required if the candidate is selected. Candidates are considered Visiting Student Researchers (VSRs) at UM.
Interested candidates should identify a UM faculty host. Any interested UM faculty hosts or any interested candidates should email kennis.fung@umanitoba.ca for an application package. Kennis Fung is responsible for submitting all SEED-2 applications at UM.
