Development of next generation synthetic renewable fuel technologies

Research Areas: Next generation technologies for production of novel synthetic renewable liquid and gaseous fuels from CO2, and/or renewable carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen or their compounds and from renewable energy. High source to product conversion efficiency, process energy efficiency and carbon emission neutrality. Use of fuel cells for all transport modes for electricity generation. European technology export potential.

CCU for the production of fuels

Research Areas: Industrial CO2 use/reuse through industrial symbiosis and the efficient integration of CO2 capture and conversion. Replacement of fossil fuels and energy storage. SSH component to enhance societal impact of research and address socio-economic and political barriers to use. Technologies that have reached at least TRL 4-5 should progress to TRL 6-7.

DACCS and BECCS for CO2 removal/negative emissions
