Manitoba Agriculture: Sustainable CAP - Research and Innovation

The Research and Innovation Program supports the development of science-based solutions and tools that address known challenges, prepare for potential disruptions and climate threats, and capture emerging opportunities in the agriculture and agri-food sector.
This Program provides funding to eligible applicants for basic and applied research and capacity building projects that advance the growth and sustainability of the sector by fast-tracking the pace of innovation. This can include the development of new technologies and practices, new products, and the advancement of knowledge.
There are two funding streams available for research and innovation financial assistance:

Basic and Applied Research: includes basic discovery research that seeks to expand knowledge and projects that attempt to find practical solutions for specific problems.

Capacity Building: includes only the purchase of research equipment ($10,000 or greater) and equipment specific training to help build research and innovation capacity in Manitoba.
Eligible activities under Capacity Building stream include research equipment purchase (over $10,000) and training staff to utilize new equipment. Individual projects requesting up to a maximum of $50,000 – $75,000 will be considered, for a duration of 1 year.
