University Research Grants Program (URGP)

Funding up to $10,000. Stimulates and supports the growth of research at the university for New Faculty only.

Successful applicants, who do not hold a Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC) grant, are expected to apply to the next appropriate Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC) program competition normally within one year of the expiration of their URGP grant. URGP grant-holders who do not submit an application to a Tri-Agency competition within this timeframe may be ineligible from applying for future URGP funds.

*Note Changes to URGP Eligibility* For purposes of this program New Faculty are defined as  full-time academic faculty members who are within five years of the date of their first full-time appointment. New Faculty are eligible to receive up to three URGP awards in the five-year period during which they are defined as new faculty.

We have also expanded the forms of Research Contributions in the Record of Research/Scholarly/Creative Contributions section and in the assessment process to ensure recognition of a wider diversity of contributions.
