The Project

Project TitleOxylipins in Airway Smooth Muscle Physiology
Project DescriptionSeeking student for research project aimed at understanding how a class of linoleic acid metabolites (TriHOMEs) influence airway smooth muscle function. Student will get experience culturing human airway smooth muscle cells, performing airway relaxation and contraction experiments in precision cut lung slices, and assaying molecular pathways of relevance using Western blotting, ELISA, and qPCR. Research Objectives: 1) Determine whether TriHOMEs influence airway smooth muscle relaxation or proliferation. 2) Understand whether TriHOMEs activate PPAR-gamma signaling in airway smooth muscle.
