Research Description

My research examines the relations among self-awareness/self-knowledge, emotional and behavioral self-regulation, and mental/physical health.

Specific projects include:

Use of self-compassion and therapeutic writing to address feelings of shame and the tendency to self-enhance.

Self-esteem regulation: Narcissism, envy, shame, self-deception.

Relations between defense mechanisms, self-deception, and mental/physical health.

Mental/physical health conditions of interest: depression, anxiety, chronic illnesses (renal disease), personality disorders.
