Research Description
Research areas include: Greek and Latin historical narrative, esp. Livy; Greek biography; History of the Middle and Late Roman Republic (c. 300-30 BCE); The Middle East under Rome; Greek and Roman military texts.
Teaching Description
Courses frequently taught include: Introduction to Ancient Roman Culture; Greek and Roman Mythology (including online delivery); The Rise and Fall of the Roman Republic; Rome under the Emperors; Classical Greece; Latin language at all levels (including graduate).
Public/Media (Non-Technical) Description
I am a specialist in several areas of Roman history and culture, with a special interest in ancient Roman historical, biographical, and military texts. I also have a research interest in Roman administration and involvement in the Middle East and the Arabian peninsula. My research takes me to Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria at present.
