Research Description
I conduct research on political parties (particularly their grassroots organizations), representation, municipal politics, federalism, and online political communication. My recent book, Grassroots Liberals: Organizing for Local and National Politics (UBC Press 2011), explores Liberal constituency organizations at both the national and provincial levels. My forthcoming co-edited volume, Canadian Parties and Elections (also from UBC Press) examines changes in Canada's national politics since 1993.
Teaching Description
I teach courses primarily in Canadian government and politics. In 2012-13 I will teach POLS 2070 (Introduction to Canadian Government) and POLS 3670 (Canadian Political Parties).
Public/Media (Non-Technical) Description
I conduct research on Canadian politics, political parties (including the federal Liberal Party, Conservative Party, and NDP), municipal politics, and federalism. I also research online political communication in Canada, including partisan blogging and other forms of online engagement.
